Valuing Learning In The Workplace

The Centre for Credit Rating, based at Edinburgh Napier University, awards formal academic credit to staff training and development within businesses and organisations. An employer’s capacity and efficiency can be greatly improved by ensuring that their work-based learning is quality assured and of a national standard.

We have worked with a wide range of organisations, such as BAE Systems, the Institute of Leadership and Management, City and Guilds, Marie Curie Cancer Care and the Scottish Police Service, and are recognised by the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework Partnership as one of the market leaders in this field.

Our accredited training model reflects many aspects of the Scottish Government’s ‘Skills for Scotland’ strategy, which states that the supply of skills, training and qualifications must be flexible to respond effectively to employer needs.

Credit Rating

We assess staff training and development within businesses and organisations, placing a formal academic value on learning in the form of SCQF (Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework) level and credits (see SCQF website for more detailed information on academic level and credits). Awarding a recognised value to learning ensures that credits can be used towards gaining further qualifications at a similar or higher level.
